JAIME Male. Latino. Young Teen. Maria’s son.
LIZ Female. White. Early 40s.

(DOCTOR’S OFFICE – DOCTOR, JAIME AND MARIA)

DOCTOR
And any trouble breathing?

JAIME
No.

DOCTOR
Fatigue?

MARIA
¿Jaime?

JAIME
I’m sorry?

DOCTOR
Tired. Fatigued. Are you tired?

JAIME
Sorry, yes. I’m… tired. A lot.

MARIA
¿Que dijo el?

JAIME
Él me preguntó si estaba consado.

MARIA
Oh, si. Mucho.

DOCTOR
And your balance? You said you fell.

JAIME
Yes.

DOCTOR
And this… It’s happening frequently?

JAIME
I…don’t, know.

DOCTOR
But it happened recently–

JAIME
Yes… –

DOCTOR
Again, you said.

JAIME

MARIA
¿Que?–

DOCTOR
So, more than once?

MARIA
¿Que dijo el, Jaime?

JAIME
(sad smile at Maria) …

DOCTOR
So, it’s happening more.

(JAIME finally, reluctantly, nods yes.)

DOCTOR
And your headaches. How often do you get them now?

MARIA
Está bien, Jaime.

JAIME
A lot. Sí, Mami.

DOCTOR
A lot, like all the time?

JAIME
(stutters)
It…
(opens mouth. struggles to speak)

JAIME (Cont)
Eh…
(BEAT)
Uh… (very frustrated) …

DOCTOR
…It’s, OK. You don’t have to–

JAIME I
t’s all the, time.

DOCTOR
OK. So… Mrs. Hernández. Jaime’s symptoms are consistent with a recurrence. Significant. I’m afraid. His disease has returned.
