FREE TECH-DESIGN WORKSHOP

PlayGround is offering a free one-day intensive workshop for Bay Area residents (18 and up) interested in entering the field of theatre tech and design. Led by PlayGround resident designer Brittany Mellerson, the workshop will be offered at PlayGround’s home theatre, Potrero Stage, on Saturday, March 23, 12pm-5pm PT, and repeated on Saturday, March 30, 12pm-5pm PT. Registration is limited to 20 students per session with 5 spots reserved for Potrero Hill residents.  Students successfully completing the workshop and in-course testing will be immediately eligible for technical crew overhire and light/sound board operator positions at Potrero Stage (starting salary: $20/hr). As of 3/29, this workshop is completely full. Stay tuned for future offerings.


2024-25 PRODUCING FELLOWSHIPS

PlayGround is excited to announce immediate openings to join the 2024-2025 Producing Fellowship, designed to foster the next generation of leadership for the American Theatre. We are looking for individuals passionate about theatre and looking to make an impact on the field while developing the skill set to do so for a living. Candidates must reside in one of the four PlayGround regions (LA, SF, NY, or Chicago). Eight (8) fellows will be selected with two (2) drawn from each of the four (4) PlayGround regions. Particularly, in filling these roles, we will give weight and priority to BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and disabled applicants with the hope of employing diverse voices who can continue to hone their producing skills in a collaborative environment. Applications are due by 11:59pm on May 31, 2024, with a target start date of August 1, 2024, running through July 31, 2025.  Interviews with select candidates will be conducted in June. Applications must be submitted through this Google Form.

Bay Area-based directors interested in being considered for the Monday Night PlayGround series can submit a resume, brief cover letter and optional link to a performance or staged reading representing their directing style using the link below. ACTORS

PlayGround invites Bay Area-based actors (union or non-union) to submit headshots, resumes and optional links to a recorded monologue for consideration in our 2023-24 acting pool for the monthly Monday Night PlayGround series. BIPOC, trans/gender non-conforming, Deaf/Hoh, Disabled, Neurodiverse and actors of all ages encouraged.  Online submissions are accepted and reviewed year-round.

AUDITIONS


DESIGNERS

PlayGround has on-going and immediate openings for fee-based designers for the Festival of New Works. Fee is $750-$1250 (depending on position). To be added to our designer database and considered for current and/or future design opportunities, please fill out this google form.


BOX OFFICE STAFF

PlayGround is looking for part-time Box Office Staff to run in-person box office and front-of-house for PlayGround activity throughout the year, including multi-week projects (mostly weekends) at Potrero Stage. Responsibilities include management of will-call and computerized ticketing (Theatre Manager) for walk-up sales, some light phone and email, and general house management duties. Salary is $20/hr. STAGE MANAGERS

PlayGround has immediate openings for part-time salaried stage managers for the Festival of New Works, as well as on-going openings throughout the year. Salary is $25/hr. Submit resume, cover letter, and references to jobsearch@playground-sf.org.


TECHNICAL DIRECTOR

PlayGround is looking for part-time Technical Director, responsible for the technical operations of PlayGround and Potrero Stage, including oversight for lighting, sound, set design and construction, props and costumes, as well as coordinating necessary maintenance for the facilities and equipment. Must have a thorough understanding of all aspects involved in technical theater, including construction, lighting equipment, rigging, and sound. Must be able to work safely around power tools, electricity, and on ladders and scaffolding. Estimated 150 hours per year. Salary: $25-30/hr, contingent on technical capabilities.
