This #GivingTuesday, Give (Yourself) the Gift of PlayGround!
Dear Friends,
In the last year, PlayGround has triumphantly returned to in-person performances in the Bay Area and Los Angeles, all while growing our community with the second year of PlayGround New York, and our newest expansion to Chicago in September. Because we are a proud artistic home for so many, this year we reached out to our writers and asked them to share what being a part of the PlayGround community means to them. Here are some highlights:
PlayGround inspires me as an actor, as a writer, as a director, and as an audience member. I always enjoy seeing what everyone creates, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to make and experience new work on a regular basis. -Allie Costa, PlayGround Los Angeles
I find PlayGround fiercely competitive yet irresistibly cozy and accessible, a new theater family where I can learn, grow, and chase inspiration. -Kristy Lin Billuni, PlayGround Bay Area
Spaces like [PlayGround] feel few and far between for dramatic writers these days, but in my humble opinion they are critical for creating an industry with artistic collaboration at its core. -Tanuja Jagernauth, PlayGround Chicago
It’s inspiring to be part of a community of awesome actors, designers, directors and producers – and also inspiring to see writers encouraged to constantly express their individuality and share their unique perspectives. -Katie Ryan, PlayGround New York
This year, we remained steadfast in our commitment to radically accessible programming, and despite general economic downturn and increased costs within the industry, PlayGround continued to offer all programming completely admission free. In the past year alone, more than 2,500 households attended Monday Night PlayGround for free. But we can’t continue to offer free admission, while also sustaining the artists who make PlayGround so great, without your support.
We hope you will consider supporting radical accessibility in our theatres through free admission, and the hundreds of local writers, actors, and directors PlayGround employs, by contributing to our annual campaign today.
This year, a great way to give—and receive priority access to PlayGround programming—is through the Monday Night PlayGround Membership. For just $100 per season, you gain access to live and extended on-demand access to twenty-four weekly Monday Night PlayGround performances, online and in the theatre. With our optional payment plan, that’s just $20 per month for the next five months and it’s 100% tax-deductible. But more than that, each membership will directly fund artist compensation for two Monday Night PlayGround artists this season.
We are so grateful for your continued support of PlayGround’s diverse community of artists, and for supporting our commitment to developing a more equitable theatre landscape for all.
Sincerely,
Jim Kleinmann, Co-Founder & Artistic Director
