Today we’re spotlighting Ric Iverson in Period. New Paragraph. (1/25, 2/2 at 7pm, & 2/9 at 1pm).This is a follow up to last year’s award winning solo work, Ric Iverson is Alive and Well and Living in Milpitas. Surviving cancer was a huge part of that show. Being recently diagnosed with Stage IV Prostate Cancer, Ric’s just not sure where this new version is taking him…but it’s definitely still a musical!

Hear from the playwright:

What was the seed of this play? What inspired you to write it?
This show was written as a love letter to my husband. We are more in love after 36 years, than the day we met.

Why is a solo show the ideal way to tell this story?
Because it is the absolute BEST way to bring people in, and make them a part of the story you’re telling, by letting them relate, on their own, to anything that rings true for them, while at the same time, guiding them through your own.

What are your artistic influences for this show?
All of the pop/country icons from the 70’s. All of them.

What surprised you during the creation of this piece?
I can write beautiful music. I can write a song that people relate to so much, that they actually emote…right in front of me.

Is there anything audiences should know about you or your piece before they attend? And/or is there anything else you want to share about your piece?
My story is not for the faint of heart, but at the same time…it should not be missed. Jaxx Theatricals put it best in their review: “The stories, the singing, the guitar. Ric is a gay elder and the younger generations need to hear these stories. Bravo and thank you for sharing!”

Ric Iverson
(PERIOD. NEW PARAGRAPH.) can write himself out of any situation. Including stage IV prostate cancer. Hopefully.
