Rebecca Ennals is looking forward to Free Shakespeare in the Park in person, which is scheduled to open on Labor Day weekend in Redwood City and travel to San Francisco and Cupertino. After performing the first three acts of PERICLES, PRINCE OF TYRE virtually, the cast will perform the final episode in-person under the direction of Carla Pantoja. J Jha is working on The BOX, a critically-acclaimed play about resistance and survival in solitary confinement, which will play in San Rafael for two weekends—September 10 – 12 and September 17 – 19 . This is an immersive, socially distanced experience following strict safety precautions. Each audience member will sit in their own square of an immersive grid on an outdoor stage in safe proximity to the performers. The playwright Sarah Shourd, a survivor, will perform along with a powerful cast, more than half of whom are formerly incarcerated. Lynn Aylward’s play THREE CHORDS AND THE TRUTH was presented online at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in late August. Directed by Rebecca Haley Clark, the production featured a multi-racial, global cast that included beloved SF actor and playwright Alan Coyne. “Three Chords”, a finalist for City Lights Theatre’s Lights Up Festival and a semi-finalist for the Bay Area Playwright’s Festival and The Ground Floor at Berkeley Rep, is about artistic destiny, indie rock and what any of us would give for one more bite at the golden apple of fame.
