PlayGround will mark its 32nd season of incubating new plays by hosting simultaneous parties in New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles and San Francisco on Monday, September 15, 2025. The events will feature a starry array of playwright alumni, including many of the busiest names in theatre today. The One PlayGround Gala will celebrate the company’s monumental history of launching over 350 significant new playwrights and over 1,500 new plays onto the national theatre scene, by playwrights including Lauren Yee, Jonathan Spector, Geetha Reddy, Diana Burbano, and Cleavon Smith, among hundreds of others.
This year’s guests of honor, distinguished theatremakers who have inspired the PlayGround community and helped lead the way, include: Mia Chung, Lydia R. Diamond, Philip Kan Gotanda, and Steve Yockey. The One PlayGround Gala honorary committee includes: Carson Becker, Snehal Desai, Prince Gomolvilas, Adam Greenfield, Stephen Adly Guirgis, Pam MacKinnon, Jonathan Moscone, Karissa Murrell Myers, Bruce Norris, Lynn Nottage, Jonathan Spector, Tony Taccone, Jeremy Wechsler, and Lauren Yee. Funds raised will enable PlayGround to create more opportunities for working artists across the country, as well as establish a national network for this country’s most promising new voices and their artistic collaborators.
Listen to last year’s keynote speaker, Tony Award-winning playwright Jonathan Spector (Eureka Day), talking about the role and impact of PlayGround for new playwrights.
