Mercedes Segesvary is celebrating graduating from Cal State LA with an MFA in Dramatic Writing for TV/Film/Theatre! On July 30, her play, IF ONLY IT WERE TRUE, will receive a reading as part of the #MeToo Festival, Off Broadway, with a potential full production in early Fall. In October, her full length play, COMPANIONS LLC., will receive a dramatic reading in Santiago, Chile as part of the Women Playwrights International Conference. Mercedes has also adapted this play into a Television Pilot which is presently a semi-finalist for the Sundance Institute Episodic Program.

Sam Hurwitt’s superhero comedy SIZE QUEEN will be produced in Round 8 of PianoFight’s “ShortLived” short play competition, 8/2-8/4.

“Z” Zephyr‘s THERE’S A NEW GODDESS IN TOWN, written for PlayGround, will be playing at the Tabard Theatre in London, July 31st – August 4th. It will also have its premier at the PCSF Playoffs Festival July 15th at the Shelton Theatre in San Francisco.

Annette Roman is performing INAUGURATION VACATION: TALES OF A RELUCTANT ACTIVIST at the Winnipeg Theatre Fringe Festival July 18th through July 28!  Her short play BEST SERVED will receive a staged reading at PCSF Playoffs on July 29th at 3:30 pm and 7 pm at the Shelton Theater in San Francisco.

Marsha Roberts’ short play, SEATS 32A AND B, will be performed as part of Piano Fight’s Short-Lived – Round 5, July 12 through 14. Another of her short plays, LOGAN COMES OF AGE, will be featured in Round 1 of the Playwrights’ Center Playoffs on July 15th.

Rachel Bublitz has been commissioned for a second year in a row by the Egyptian Youtheatre in Park City, Utah. For a production in 2019, she’s writing a new play titled THE NIGHT WITCHES about a group of young women who flew planes for Russia during the Second World War.

Madeleine Butler’s short play THE MISSION was staged as part of “Bubble, Bubble, Toil and Trouble,” the 3Girls Theatre 2018 New Works Festival on August 2 at ZSPACE. Directed by Erin Gilley, the play was included in “Bursting the Bubble: Six Views,” an evening of short plays about various bubbles that might burst in the Bay Area. THE MISSION was originally written for Monday Night PlayGround and workshopped in RECESS.

Lauren Yee’s UNTITLED RUSSIAN PLAY will receive a staged reading from Chautauqua Theatre Company’s Signature Staged Readings series July 30 through August 1.
