NEW PLAY PRODUCTION FUND

Since 1994, PlayGround has been a leading incubator for some of the Bay Area’s most promising new playwrights, developing more than 650 original short plays by 185 Bay Area emerging playwrights. In the past eleven years, PlayGround itself has emerged, as one of the leading commissioners of new full-length works by Bay Area playwrights. 48 full-length plays have been commissioned to date.

In support of these playwrights and to further encourage the production of new works by Bay Area playwrights in Bay Area theatres, PlayGround has established the New Play Production Fund. Through the New Play Production Fund, PlayGround provides direct financial investment (up to $10,000 per production) to facilitate the world premiere of the best new plays, in partnership with Bay Area professional theatres and/or independent producers. Recently supported projects include: Katie May's Manic Pixie Dream Girl and Evelyn Jean Pine's First.
